The sixth season of Arby 'n' the Chief premiered on June 18, 2011. Under normal circumstances, episodes in this season aired every two weeks, with Hypermail episodes released in between.
The season keeps most features recognizable from the previous one; Greg, however, disappears from the title card and from the show proper; Arbiter seems more disillusioned with Chief's behaviour, and their relationship appears more strained; he is also portrayed as a more flawed character than previously. The main theme sounds bleaker compared to the previous season, and it is not always played at the title card.
Season 6 was met with overwhelmingly positive reception from viewers. Many fans cite it as the series' best as well as the peak of Jon's writing for the show.
Overview[]
The season picks up 4 months after the events of season 5. Arbiter has now become a depressed alcoholic due to Claire's talk with him and the crumbling society, and Master Chief has become more juvenile and destructive in his antics due to Halo withdrawal. An opportunity to get themselves un-banned from Xbox Live and turn their current lives around comes to fruition when they join the TOSERS, an organization dedicated to the advancement of the joy and fun of Xbox by punishing those who seek to hack, cheat or make online play unfair for other users, in order to get unbanned.
During the course of the season, the duo encounter troubles that nearly cost them their accounts and possibly the entire Xbox Live community. The main antagonists are a group of hacker/cyberterrorists known as Chaos Theosis, who initially set out to bring down the TOSERS while sending a message that censorship and other regulations are unnecessary, but end up being directed to destroy the entire network by an unknown party. As the hackers' grip on the network tightens, Arbiter and Chief are forced to recover the hacks used by the group (which are revealed as updated versions of the ones used by the two during the Donnovich wedding crash) and take the fight to them one by one. In a stunning twist however, the real enemy of the season turns out to be none other than Trent Donnovich, who has been coordinating several operations by Chaos Theosis and other individuals with the ultimate goal of bringing down the network using a permanent denial-of-service attack.
In the end, the toys ultimately defeat Trent and restore peace to the OMN. Afterwards, the toys happily reunite with two long-lost friends: Cortana and Greg.

Themes[]
- Friendship - One of the major themes of the season, friendship is the driving force that allows Arbiter and Chief to fight together against Chaos Theosis and show that they truly care about each other, and that they can make it through the toughest obstacles. Chief even goes out of his way to show that he still cares for Arbiter after the latter learns that Claire is dating someone.
- Hacking - Jon Graham originally started Season 6 by gathering information about online cheating and hacking, and created the season with this theme in mind. Hacking plays a major role throughout the season.
- Sexism - Sexism returns as a minor theme in season 6. Duncan and his friends as well as several random players on the network are shown to be extreme sexists and their gross opinions are projected upon others. In turn, this is revealed to be why Kylie has a vendetta against the community.
- Revenge - Vengeance seems to be another theme that drives the season. Both Trent Donnovich and Arbiter seem to share this same motive. Arbiter wants revenge for the fragging of his love interest Claire, whereas Trent wants revenge for the events of Collapse and the effect it had on his life leading after it.
Reception[]
The sixth season was universally acclaimed for its writing, cinematography, and acting. Much of the season's praise focused on the continued development of the titular characters, who started gaining an emotional depth in the previous season. The members of Chaos Theosis were also highlighted for their erratic character traits. Adam McIntyre's character, in particular, was roundly lauded. Many also praised the dramatic shift in the series.
A majority of the series' fans continue to cite the sixth season as the show's best.
